The CU Heritage Center preserves the history of the university and displays personal memorabilia of alumni such as Marilyn Van Derbur, Robert Redford, Glenn Miller, and CU's 17 astronauts, two of which were killed in the Challenger and Columbia disasters. The University of Colorado Museum includes dinosaur relics and has permanent and changing exhibits. The 2,047 Macky Auditorium built in 1914 is a historic building offering a broad range of performances including University ensembles of band, choir, and orchestra, the Artist Series, the Boulder Philharmonic, and internationally known jazz, dance, classical, and pop artists, as well as lectures.
